Julia
Julia is a perpetually curious agroecologist who started SCM back in 2018 because she needed to settle down for a bit while her kids went to school. A problem solver with farming in her blood and good food on her mind, she thought building a modular mushroom farming business from the ground up might be a good way to redefine adventure. After 6 years of equally punishing and magic fungal lessons she can confirm it has not disappointed.
Marcus
Markus moved into the SCM farm space to kick start his grain spawn and mycelium materials business Spawn to Grow as a part of the SCM incubator program. A brilliant nerd with a big laugh he is always up for helping out with whatever he can and sharing wondrous stories. You can geek out with him at Alphington farmers market on the first Sunday of the month.
Carlo
Carlo is a seasoned chef who cut his teeth in Italy & then London. He found us as a volunteer after 6 years at Tipo 00 & was quickly promoted to head of manufacturing and product development at SCM. He brings a great energy whenever in the kitchen and is always up for mastering new mushroom product ideas.
Sam
Sam is the legend that keeps turning up to save us from drowning in a nest of rotting mushroom juice. When not washing old mushroom bags to be 100% recycled they might be off at a gig, in the bush or planning adventures (or all 3 at once ;-)
Alex
Alex makes the juggle of study, jobs and life look so easy and beautiful. She came on in early 2025 to help out with farmers markets and with her friendly, kind and reliable demeanour has made marketing easier than ever by selling like a star, rain hail or shine.
Hazel
We totally lucked out when Hazel threw her hat in the ring for our marketing and sales role. She spends her time collecting colourful social media content at our farmers markets, collaborating with local chefs and editing silly videos of Carlo. When not at the farm she's behind a pottery wheel or out foraging for mushrooms.
Alice Laidlaw

Alice's career to this point has focused on global and regional leadership roles in finance and infrastructure sectors, initially with JP Morgan in New York, and for the last 21 years in Washington DC & Singapore with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) — a member of the World Bank Group.
Veronica Fil
